Recording does nothing
First check microphone access: Settings → Mimic → Microphone.
Also note that a press shorter than one second is discarded on purpose, to prevent accidental taps. Hold a little longer before releasing.
Recording stops on its own
Thirty seconds is the limit for a single take; at thirty seconds it stops and converts automatically. The ring around the button is the countdown.
If you slid your finger upward past a short distance, that is the cancel gesture and the recording is discarded.
The converted voice sounds off
Background noise in the recording affects the result. Record somewhere quiet, stay close to the microphone and speak at a normal volume.
A custom voice needs three to five seconds of clear speech. The quality of that sample sets the quality of everything converted with it.
I cannot find an earlier conversion
Every finished conversion is saved automatically in the current voice’s history. Open it from the clock on the home-screen result card, or from that voice in Voicebox.
History lets you play, share or delete individual takes. Export All packages every take for that voice into a ZIP.
Organising and filtering voices
Edit a voice in Voicebox to change its name, icon, color and tags. You can also search, filter by built-in or custom voices and tags, or drag voices into a new order.
Tag filters are shared with the target-voice row on the home screen. Change the filter in either place and the same selection appears in the other.
The app is large
The voice models are around 900 MB and install with the app. That is the cost of keeping every computation on your device and never using a connection.
Settings separately shows the space used by conversion results, staged imports and recording takes. You can clear those recordings while keeping the voices you created.
Switching microphones, headphones or speakers
Choose an available microphone input in Settings. Use the system audio picker for AirPlay, Bluetooth headphones or speakers.
If a selected device disconnects, Mimic tells you and returns to the system default output.
Does it need internet?
No. After the initial App Store download, everything works offline.
Supported devices
Mimic requires an iPhone running iOS 26.0 or later.
